HYLO were commissioned to develop proposals for a small infill site that had previously received an unpromising pre-application response. Through careful design development, we successfully addressed planning concerns relating to privacy, massing, and the wider streetscape, securing consent for a high-quality, simply arranged new home.

The architectural approach is disciplined and efficient: a simple, legible plan is paired with a carefully modelled facade that mediates between neighbouring properties while maintaining light, outlook and a strong street presence. Openings are strategically positioned to balance privacy with generous daylight, creating calm, well-proportioned internal spaces within a tight urban footprint

A key project constraint was maintaining the continued operation of the existing commercial tenant. We worked closely with the client to minimise disruption throughout the proposed site works.

All planning conditions have now been discharged and the technical design completed. The project is currently progressing towards construction.
